Glaucoma Screening and Diagnosis

Glaucoma is diagnosed with a comprehensive eye exam including: measuring IOP with tonometry, examining the optic nerves with ophthalmoscopy and fundus imaging, visual field testing, Optical Coherence Tomography ( OCT), gonioscopy, and pachymetry.

  • OCT Angiography
The OCT provides a comfortable and rapid scan that may detect glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic macular edema well before other tests that have been used previously. Learn more here.
  • Optomap
Optomap digitally scans your eye without the need for dilation drops. With one click, we have a scan of your retina to examine to determine if your retina is healthy. Learn more here.

Glaucoma Treatment

Glaucoma is typically treated with eye drops, but may require laser or surgical treatment. Most people with glaucoma have no symptoms at all until 80% of their vision is irrevocably lost. That is one of the reasons it is so important to have an annual eye exam.

At Virginia Eyecare Center, we want all our patients to enjoy the best possible vision at every age. To learn more about Glaucoma diagnosis and management in Burke or to schedule an eye exam, give us a call or book your appointment online.
