Diabetes impacts the integrity of blood vessels. The retina, the back inside coating of the eye, is a blood vessel rich tissue that is susceptible to Diabetic Retinopathy. Diabetes is the leading cause of vision loss in people ages 18-64. An annual eye exam can prevent 95% of this vision loss. Early detection BEFORE there are any vision symptoms is key.

At Virginia Eyecare Center we have the advanced technology necessary for this early detection. With an annual screening using our Angio-iWellness exam, we pick up even the most subtle retinal changes. The Angio-iWellness includes a widefield retinal image with our Optomap camera, and an OCT scan (similar to a CT scan) that provides cross sectional imaging of the retina and a retinal blood flow analysis in seconds.
