Insurance Information
Virginia Eyecare Center works with many insurance carriers and payment plans.
Because our Doctors handle both annual comprehensive eye exams for both glasses and contact lenses as well as office visits for medical eye issues (i.e., eye infections, injuries, monitoring of certain eye conditions) we will ask for details of your medical coverage and any separate vision plan coverage.
Most major medical insurance plans have a separate vision plan. To find out who your vision carrier is, please contact your human resources department or you can call your major medical plan’s customer service and they will be able to provide you with that information. Virginia Eyecare Center participates with Vision Service Plan (VSP) and Eyemed.
Please note that Tricare Active Duty Prime and Standard dependents are now eligible for one comprehensive eye exam every year. Eligibility renews 12 months from date of service. Our Prime Retired patients are eligible for one comprehensive eye exam every 24 months from date of service.
We accept most major insurances for medical eye claims. If your plan is an HMO plan, a referral from a Primary Care Physician will be needed in order for us to file a medical eye claim. Please note that we are a member of Anthem PPO’s network, but are NOT a member of Anthem Healthkeepers.
Attention Tricare Members (posted 11/29/18):
Tricare members and their dependents are now being offered vision care plans by the Office of Personnel Management.
Of the four plans offered, our practice participates with Vision Service Plan (VSP) and Aetna Vision (Eyemed).
Virginia Eyecare Center does not promote one company over the other; they both provide discounts on glasses and contact lenses.
Every person and family has different vision care needs and will need to research which option will be best for them, weighing costs and coverage. Please visit the websites of these companies to determine which plan is best for you, or call them for more information if needed. The only information we are able to provide is that we do accept both VSP and Eyemed.
